This design, from my WYKIDD menswear (circa2011), an intricate hand-embroidery motif, was crafted using a Shantou traditional ‘pulled thread’ technique. Not appliqued on but actually painstakingly crafted directly onto the actual cotton shirt front panel. The quality and perfection of each stitch is everlasting, soft to the touch.The elderly lady artisan who crafted it will take her age-old skill to her grave, she has no one to pass it down to, her daughter is in the city, as with most young people from the village.
